Just Add Ink 114 - Jodene Tripp

This week the challenge at Just Add Ink is to CASE the very talented Jodene Tripp from the Design Team.

I knew I had to include stitching and colouring but I found it really hard to make anything up to her beautiful standards!!!!

So here is what I eventually (after 3 or 4 tries) came up with.............

I've used
Paper -Whisper White, So Saffron and Bella Bleu DSP (retired)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black and Copics
Stamp Set - Teeny Tiny Sentiments and Happy Cople by Stampendous
Other: So Saffron Ribbon, Bling and Nestabilites

Here is Jodene's card that I've used as my inspiration

Don't forget to pop over to the Just Add Ink blog, check out all the other Design Team creations and then link up your version of one of Jodene's cards!!!

I hope you all have a fantastic Friday.

YAY for more space to craft!

I've been using a desk to craft on that my Dad built me when I was a little girl. I've got a huge sentimental attachment to this desk however it's only one meter long. Perfect for a little girl doing homework... not so great for someone with crafty mess everywhere!! So I decided it was time for an upgrade.

I've been longing for looking at a desk at Ikea every time I go there for a good year now. I've hesitate to buy it for 2 reasons, the first is my attachment to my old desk I grew up with and the second was the price tag. (I thought Ikea was supposed to have affordable furniture!!)
Anyway I bit the bullet and finally bought it!!!

I just loooooove it!
It's 60cm longer than my old desk and gives me so much more room

In the left in the top draw I keep all my adhesives, embossing powders and other bits and bobs

In the second draw I keep my small 6x6 papers and the current Stampin' UP! cattys

The right hand side has a cupboard where I keep my dies, embossing folders and cuttlebug

Since I'm here I might just give you a little tour of the rest of my space!
I share the spare room with my partner, he has his desk on the opposite side of the room to mine.

So firstly here is my ribbon storage and the draws I keep my 12x12 and A4 paper in.
I made both of these and you can see my posts about them here and here if you're interested to read more.

Next is where I keep all my stamp sets and some of my tools (and yes this is another Ikea purchase!)
Blogged about that purchase here.

To the left of my desk I keep my inspiration board and all my embellishments. The rack I found just recently for 10 bucks and I've been meaning to paint it white but haven't got around to it yet.
In the draws below I keep envelopes, punches and of course the bottom draw is the 'catch all'.

On my desk I keep all my pens in these sweet little containers - if you didn't pick it up before in the shot of the full area you'll spot a little bin beside the desk that matches these containers.

And of course there is a little spot on my desk for a picture of the most inspiring woman I know - my BFF!

So here is the comparison

    Before                                                                            After

Personally I'm smitten with my new desk... however I might make one little change..... I think I might swap out the hardware for little pink coloured crystal ones!
Just to give it that extra little bit of bling :)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!!!

I think I mentioned a few years back that it's been a tradition in my family since as long as I can remember to make coloured eggs. Not blown eggs but real hard boiled eggs you can eat. We still received chocolate eggs but the real eggs were always the first I'd eat - YES that's right even before the chocolate ones.

As we've gotten older my parents no longer make them so I've been the one to carry on the tradition.
When we were younger my parents painstakingly put pretty patterns and designs on them but as we grew older they just made them all one colour. (see below for some pictures of these eggs)

I've generally continued the one colour theme as it is much easier!
However my sister sent me this tutorial to colour eggs with silk ties.... I was intrigued so I thought I'd give it a go!!

I couldn't find any silk ties from the second hand store (and I certainly wasn't going to buy a new tie just to cut it up!) so I went to my local spotlight and picked up some 100% silk. I wasn't sure if it would work as this silk was much thinner than a silk tie.

All wrapped up!

So here is how they turned out......  A little bit washed out but still very cute!

They all have such beautiful and individual patterns on them

I think this one is my favourite, it's amazing the small details that showed up!!!

I'd love to hear about any Easter traditions you have...?

I hope you all have a lovely Easter Sunday spending time with family and loved ones.

Here is my sister and I in the early 90's excitedly holding our coloured eggs!
(oh and look my sister is even giving me some bunny ears - how sweet of her)

And look here the Easter bunny even found us when we were camping!!!!

Just Add Ink #112 Colour Combo

Gosh time is flying and it's that time of the week for the Just Add Ink challenge!!!!!!!!

This week we have a beautiful colour combo -

My BFF sent me some delicious felt this week that I just had to use straight away. I love the texture it gives to the ice cream :)

I'm a HUGE ice cream fan so I thought this sentiment worked perfectly for this card!!!

I'm sure I've mentioned this before but I'll say it again..... I LOVE seam binding, it's so easy to work with and I love the feeling of it!

Close up of the pretty soft felt

I've used
Paper -Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip and Pink Pirouette DSP
Ink - Crumb Cake
Stamp Set - Apple Blossoms
Other: Seam Binding, Button, Twine, Felt, Pearls, Ice cream die by PTI, Embossing folder, Impressabilities and Nestabilites.

Happy 4 day Easter long weekend!!!!
