Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge # 62

I just love this Sweet Sunday Sketch!!! I'm really excited about how it turned out.
At first I wasn't sure what colours to use and I was backward and forward with a few ideas. But in the end I decided to stick with red and white so I wouldn't take any focus off the hip little chicky. (If only my legs were that long!!!!)

I've used:
Paper - Real Red and Whisper White
Ink - Real Red
Stamp Set - Great Friend, Live like you mean it and I'm not sure where the girl is from!
Other: Real Red ribbon, Cuttle Bug and Paper piercer

Easter Treats

I whipped up these little Easter treats for my day job work colleagues. I was surprised that it only took just under one hour from start to finish. They were super easy to make.

I put five Red Tulip (the best!) chocolate eggs in to little cello bag.

I cut up 2 pieces of Kraft card stock into 3 lengths then cut the lengths in to 3 (about 10cm long). I scored them in the middle and folded them over the top of the cello bag and put a staple in each side.

I then punched out 18 circles with some left over DSP and used a Verve Easter Stamp in Basic Black.

Then it was just as simple as gluing the circles on!!!

All up it would have cost around $20 to make 18,
I think it's a lovely and affordable small treat for everyone.

Clean and Simple FTL # 84

I loved this week's Clean and Simple sketch! I actually made two cards but decided to post one.

I've seen a few people starting to use doily's on their cards so thought I'd try it out and I must say I think it turned out fantastic.
I just picked up an old doily from a second hand store, washed it and cut it up so that I could use smaller pieces of it.

I've used:
Paper - Kraft, Very Vanilla and Bella Bleu DSP
Ink - Sahara Sand
Stamp Set - Special Blessings
Other: Doily, Cream pearl and Paper piercer

PPCCC # 5

I'm really bummed I missed last weeks PPCCC :(
I was just too busy and didn't get to it in time. BUT I have had time to do this weeks challenge!!!! YAY!!!!

I felt really uncomfortable with the colour combo as it isn't something I'd automatically choose. But I guess that is why they it's called a challenge.

I'm not 100% sold on the card I came up with. What do you think??????

Here it is

I've used:
Paper - So Saffron, Pretty in Pink and Elegant Eggplant.
Ink - Elegant Eggplant.

Happy Birthday

It is my beautiful best friend's birthday today. She is the wonderful lady who inspired me to take up stamping. She makes the most perfect and creative things!
She has a blog here, which I encouraged her to make because I think the world needs to see
the amazing work she does.

Unfortunately she broke her wrist last week so she can't do much for herself let alone any crafting!!!

After moving to Brisbane I find she is one of the small handful of things I miss.
  • I miss hanging out watching desperate housewives or farmer wants a wife while eating a massive bowl of rockyroad icecream
  • I miss sitting in her craft room watching and learning new techniques
  • I miss hanging out with her son who is full of energy and excitement
  • I miss giving her a big hug when she needs it (or when i need it for that matter!)
  • I miss knowing that if I get stuck in a hard spot she is just around the corner
  • I miss sharing all our crafty things
These are just a few little things I miss, there are many more on the list.

So pop on over to her blog and leave her some birthday wishes!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

PPCCC

Picture Perfect Creations -- Crafty Challenges Blog is the newest challenge blog run by Megan!
She is only up to her 4th challenge and I've played along in 3 of them.

It's interesting as the blog is not only aimed at paper crafters but Megan also actively encourages
all kinds of crafts to play along. For example you might be able to knit or crochet something in the colour pallet for the challenge.

I've found the little group of followers to be so supportive and creative themselves.

Because the blog is so new they are currently having a call out for Design Team Members (DTM). I've never been a DTM so I decided to apply. Not sure that I'll get in though with all the wonderful crafty people that are entering in each week. Any way fingers crossed I should find out in a few weeks.

Stop by check out the blog here and perhaps you might consider being at DTM too!!!!!

Avenue Q

I saw Avenue Q the other week and it was hilarious!
I've never been to a stage show that was so funny.

The show is in the style of Sesame Street and most of the characters in the show are puppets operated by actors onstage.

They do the funniest things and talk about the most socially sensitive things! But it's all in
good fun and you can't help but laugh.

I recommend you go see it but it's definitely NOT one to take the kiddies to!

Maryborough

This weekend T and I are off to see my Dad for his birthday. Last year he moved from Brisbane to Maryborough which is 3.5 hrs drive from here.

Here is the card I've made for him. Ive used some little pieces from one of T's shirts that he didn't like when he brought it. As I'm a hoarder I've kept them knowing that they would come in handy one day!!

I'm very excited to spend his special day with him and most likely we'll head out fishing
for the afternoon.

We are going to stay at this cute little motel there - conveniently run by my Dad!
It's called the Cara motel and it's a lovely little 12 room hotel.
For many years Dad has talked about moving into the motel industry but fortunately for him, but unfortunately for us just after T and I moved to Brisbane his dream turned into reality. I was happy that he was following his dream and moving into something that he would enjoy for many years to come but on the other hand I was very sad that he was moving away just as I was moving closer.
But luckily it's only a few hours drive away so I can't complain to much :)

If your ever in Maryborough give the Cara motel a try and let them know you read my blog and
I sent you!!!!

Paper Flowers

I've seen these paper flowers a lot lately so I thought I'd better give them a go!

They look sooooo cute and were really easy to make. The only thing that I don't like is that it would be very hard and expensive to post this card as it is very thick.

I've used:
Paper - Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette, Bashful Blue and Elegant Eggplant
Ink - Elegant Eggplant
Stamp Set - Short and Sweet
Other - Pink, Blue and Cream ribbon and buttons

Rusty update

Thought I'd pop in and give you a quick update on Rusty

Firstly I have to apologise for the darkness of the photos but there wasn't much light in the garage last night.

I've been waiting for a few weeks now for a part to arrive so I could start putting it all together, finally I got it and it was the first part to go onto the bike. As you can see in the picture below!

This next picture is of all the parts I've been collecting from different places. I was quite surprised to find a lot of parts that I thought would have been easy to get in different colours weren't. I was expecting it to all be like Stampin Up! - all different products in matching colours. I was wrong :( I wanted this bike to have lots of pink on it but I couldn't get all the same matching colour pink. So I had to change a few of the ideas that I had. Even as it is I'm having to 'put up' with all the different variations of white on the bike. I think I've become too much of a perfectionist since working with such wonderful crafting products.

There were a few hiccups that we are still working around but I hope to have her ready by 21 March as I've entered into the Great Brisbane Bike ride of 45kms! I'm not very fit so I'm hoping that Rusty is going to be easy to ride to help me get through the slog.

Here she is with her wheels on - starting to look more like a bike finally!
I'm very excited to get her together and I'll post a picture of her when she is all ready!!!!
Fingers crossed that will be very soon.

On to crafty things now, I'm working on an entry to Makeesha's inkspirations sketch challenge. Hopefully I'll finish that off tomorrow and have it posted here for you to check out.

Until then have a great night or day - depending on what part of world you come from.

Clean and Simple #81

This weeks Clean and Simple sketch was so much fun! I've been hording these massive brads for some time now and it was wonderful to find a project to use them on.
Because I used the brads it also forced me to use a colour combination that I would never dream of! I'm actually surprised at how good it looks.

It's nice to get out of your comfort zone and try something a little different every now and then!

Here is the card

I've used:
Paper - Very Vanilla, More Mustard, Taken with Teal and Real Red
Ink - Real Red
Stamp Set - Best Yet
Other: Nestablities and brads
